Sustain Our Resources / Maintain Your Style

Snowy days have made it possible for me to get some good fashion research done.  Yeah that's right research.  I've been thoroughly reading through all the fashion mags in search of interesting articles to share with you during fashion week festivities occuring around the globe.  In the March Issue of Elle Magazine sustainable clothing highlights 2 designers that were winners of Ecco Domani's Fashion Foundation award for sustainable design the first one being 2009's jewelry designer Monique Pean (pictured on the far left) and the second one being ...you guessed it John Patrick of Organic, whose pleated trousers are a wardrobe must have.  Protecting the earth never looked so good.

Victoria Beckham Is Repurposing For Real!

Victoria Beckham is so smooth and stylish that she makes Saran Wrap look good.  Check out the clear plastic bag that she has wrapped around her head for the March Issue of Glamour Magazine!  It's clear to see  that repurposing and luxury go hand in hand.  The next time that someone makes fun of my adhoc methods for protecting my coif I'll just remind them that "Becks" did the same thing.
POP QUIZ:  This photo exemplifies what this blog is all about.  Are you able to identify objects in this shot that are either vintage and/or ecologically friendly?

A Rare Glimpse of Vintage Haute Couture Paris, Londres The Golden Age 1947-1957

Montreal...one of my favorite cities and it keeps getting better!  As part of Montreal Fashion Week 2010, the Musee national des beaux-arts du Quebec is hosting an exhibit of vintage couture fashions from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Can't afford a trip to Europe?  Then visit our northern neighbor to catch a rare glimpse of 250 original creations under one roof then stroll the streets of Old Montreal and transport to a world brewing with the spirit of France.  I may just pack my bags and brush up on my Francais.

Hey Check Out The New Page Tabs at the Top

I've posted more candids of my trip to fashion week and my interview with Organic's John Patrick.  I just have to post a picture of the Harris Tweed label found on every garment...uber vintage, uber chic.

Hello World I'm Here!

This photo was soooo appropriate.  After my one-on-one interview with fashion designer John Patrick (Organic) I felt on top of the world, however the fashion world quickly reminded me the extent of my popularity.  Now I know what Carrie Bradshaw felt like when she and the girls went on vacation to L.A. and she realized that her celebrity existed only in NYC.  Nonetheless, I'm still buzzin over all the beautiful clothes as well as the great folks that I was able to chat and exchange info with. Check out the fashion week page to recap my adventures in Bryant Park.

RIP Alexander McQueen

I have received the tragic news of the untimely death of style icon Alexander McQueen.  His work was genius and continues to influence my wardrobe tastes.  May he rest in peace and my prayers are with his family and friends.

Hello Fall Fashion Week / Farewell Bryant Park

The temperature is 20 degrees in New York City but it's the hottest week of the year...Fall Fashion Week 2010. I'll be headed to Bryant Park to witness magic on the catwalk at the Tracy Reese and Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation shows. This season's wardrobe extravaganza is bitter sweet since it will be the last one held at the place where it all started-- Bryant Park. However, the mood is still light as the fashion genie has sprinkled a dose of fairy dust on the occasion by arranging a one-on-one interview to be conducted by me with the formidable John Patrick, winner of the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award in the Sustainable Design Category, at his design studio... can you say Fabulous!? As Senior Contributor for UpFront TV Magazine I can exercise quite a bit of creative license when determining episodes for the show and my lifestyle segment. Thankfully Ecco Domani's Sustainable Design category at fashion week will give us EXACTLY what we look for in luxury, "green" repurposing, and hopefully we can spur Upstate and Canadian retailers to carry Mr. Patrick's designs as his work is sure to turn heads and be a force in fashion world wide and... I Can't Wait.
